# level-ups

Leveling

Members earn XP for taking part, level up, and unlock roles along the way.

How XP works

Each message gives a random amount of XP, 15 to 25 by default. After that the member waits out a cooldown, 60 seconds by default, before the next message counts. So spamming earns nothing.

Level 1 takes 100 XP and each level after takes a bit more. Level 10 is about 4,700 XP in total, so it takes a while.

Level-up messages

Send them where the member wrote, to one fixed channel, or turn them off. The message can use {user}, {user.name}, {level} and {server}.

Role rewards

Give a role at a level, up to 25 of them. By default members keep the lower rewards when they earn a higher one. Switch that off if you want each reward to replace the last.

Keeping it fair

No-XP roles and channels never earn anything. Use them for bot channels, counting games, or anyone you’d rather leave out.

Members can check /rank for their card and /leaderboard for the top 10. The dashboard has the full leaderboard and a reset button.

Premium

  • XP for time in voice, per minute. Members alone, deafened or in the AFK channel don’t earn it.
  • XP multipliers by role (the highest matching role counts) and by channel or category, from ×0.25 to ×5. A ×0.5 role is a handy way to slow someone down.
  • Your own rank card colour and background image.

Commands

  • /rank [user]

A rank card with level, XP and position.

  • /leaderboard

The top 10 members by XP.
