AutoMod and raid protection

Catches spam, junk links and raids while your moderators are asleep.

Message rules

Each rule has its own switch and its own action. Pick from delete, delete and warn, delete and time out, or delete and kick.

  • Spam: more than a set number of messages in a few seconds.
  • Repeated messages: the same message several times in a row.
  • Mass mentions: too many users or roles in one message.
  • Invite links: links to other Discord servers.
  • Links: any link that isn’t on your allowed list. Subdomains count, so allowing youtube.com also allows m.youtube.com.
  • Blocked words: whole words, case doesn’t matter. Put * at the start or end of a word to catch prefixes or endings too.

When a message is removed, Nolvyn posts a short note to the member in the channel. The note deletes itself after a few seconds, so the channel stays tidy.

Who AutoMod leaves alone

Anyone with Manage Messages is never checked. On top of that you can exempt roles and channels, for example a bot channel where links are fine.

Raid protection

A raid is lots of accounts joining at once to spam. Tell Nolvyn what counts as too many, like 10 joins in 10 seconds. When that happens, raid mode starts:

  • everyone in that burst is kicked or banned, your choice
  • everyone who joins while raid mode lasts gets the same treatment
  • one alert goes to the mod log when it starts and a summary when it ends, so the log isn’t flooded

There’s also a minimum account age. Accounts younger than that are kicked when they join, raid or not. They can come back once the account is old enough.

Raid protection ignores the exempt roles and channels, since new members don’t have roles yet. Pick a number your server never reaches on a normal busy day.
